Botox, Dysport, and Fillers: What You Can Expect

Botox/ Dysport
Botox and Dysport can be done in a few short minutes and offers no down time. Tiny red dots will appear with minimal to no swelling for up to a half an hour after your appointment. Most patients will see the results of their injections begin to work between 5-7 days of having them done and continue to improve until approximately two weeks. Effect will gradually wear off over the next 3-4 months. Once the effects begin, the areas treated, i.e. the frown lines, crow’s feet etc., will appear more relaxed and in fact the whole face starts to benefit as patients take on a less stressed and more rested appearance. It’s subtle but noticeable – people will think you look “better” but they’re not sure why.
Filler
When performed properly, patients receive instant gratification with fillers. Dermal fillers work by plumping up the area around the injection site giving your face a more youthful appearance. They can be done within half an hour, and also offer minimal down time. You’ll be asked to come in half an hour prior to your appointment to have the area being treated frozen with a topical cream. Fillers are temporary, meaning they will degrade or be absorbed over time. Most hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers have compositions that offer results ranging between six to ten months depending on the product and where it is used.
