How to Rejuvenate the Earlobes

Have you noticed that your earlobes aren’t shaped quite as nicely as they once were? Have years of wearing heavy earrings caused them to sag? As many people age, they become concerned with rejuvenating and restoring the youthful appearance of their face, and oftentimes forget about other important areas such as the neck, hands, chest, and ear lobes! Sagging earlobes and stretched out piercings can actually be improved with dermal filler injections. Our expert injector, our physician, can tailor an injectable treatment plan specifically to your needs to firm up and reshape the ears at our Ottawa based office.
A dermal filler such as JUVÉDERM® is injected into the earlobe with a fine needle to add volume to the lobe, smooth out lines and creases, and minimize the appearance of large piercings. JUVÉDERM® is an injectable hyaluronic acid gel that acts as a filler for wrinkles that adds volume to the space where the skin sinks in. JUVÉDERM® has been formulated through HYLACROSS™ technology, creating a smooth-consistency filler. The main ingredient in JUVÉDERM® is hyaluronic acid, which occurs naturally in our bodies, so the risk of infection and allergic reaction is minimal. Aside from adding volume to earlobes, JUVÉDERM® is an ideal treatment for laugh lines and is often the treatment of choice for plumping thing lips.

While the injections are generally pain-free, we will apply a topical anesthetic to the lobe prior to injection to minimize discomfort. You may experience some redness, swelling, and/or bruising after injection, but this shouldn’t last more than a couple of days. Earlobe rejuvenation results can actually last up to one year or longer in some cases and earrings can be worn like normal after treatment. Dermal filler results last longer in the earlobes because there is no dynamic muscle movement like in the face. Once results do begin to diminish, the earlobe rejuvenation procedure can be performed again.

Gravity, volume loss, and the weight of earrings eventually take a toll on our ears, causing the earlobes to sag and ear piercings to become large and stretched out. People who have stretched their earlobes and wanted them corrected or have an adverse reaction to ear piercing may also find themselves wanting to restore the natural appearance of their ears.
