Dr. Demetra Vassiliou from Dermaworks Medical Aesthetics clinic earned her medical degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, and completed post-graduate internships and studies at Queen’s University, McMaster University, the University of Western Ontario, and Vanderbilt University. For 25 years, she has been on staff of The Ottawa Hospital with a thriving practice as an obstetrician. Dr. Vassiliou’s clinical judgment and adherence to evidence-based medicine has earned her admiration and respect within the medical community.
Dr. Demetra Vassiliou began using carbon dioxide lasers in 1990 for the endoscopic treatment of endometriosis. She was instrumental in bringing the new flagship Coherent Ultrapulse laser to the Ottawa Hospital – Civic Campus for use as an ablative and cutting tool laparoscopically.
Thirteen years ago, Dr. Vassiliou became interested in advances in cosmetic medicine and now has a very busy practice in this field. She has attended many conferences locally, nationally and internationally and trained with world-renowned practitioners of the cosmetic arts. Her favourite procedures are dermal fillers and neuromodulators (BOTOX®, Dysport, Xeomin) because these products provide very natural-looking results if done well.
