What is BOTOX?

BOTOX is an injectable drug. We utilize it in treatments to relax muscles. It is FDA approved for treatments of crossed eyes, twitching eyelids, frown lines, and even hyperhidrosis.

How does BOTOX work?

BOTOX, when injected into the skin, results in temporary muscle weakness in the targeted area. This is why it is known to potentially reduce the appearance of facial lines.

Who are ideal candidates for BOTOX?

We can't confirm whether you are an ideal candidate for BOTOX, nor can we go into further detail about the potential benefits of the treatment, until we meet with you during a consultation. This ensures for well-informed advice prior to coming to a decision on whether it’s right for you. Should you have a worrying medical history in any way, please be sure to let us know during this consultation so we can verify the appropriateness of the treatment. In addition, if you have allergies that concern our team, we will advise against getting a BOTOX injection.

Is BOTOX painful?

For those of you who are uncomfortable around needles, a BOTOX injection won’t be any different, but know that we’re here to support you and ensure your safety before anything else. These injections are not designed to inflict pain, and some patients don’t even feel them.

How should you prepare for your BOTOX treatment?

The first thing you should do is meet with our team for a consultation. Here is where we walk you through the specifics of the procedure, informing you on precisely how it is handled, what to expect, and what the potential results may be. Of course, this consultation primarily serves as a way to determine whether you are a suitable candidate for the treatment, as it isn’t ideal for everyone. Those with certain health issues and allergies, for instance, should not receive it; we can confirm in more detail whether it’s right for you upon exploring your medical history.
Next, you should stop taking specific medications and/or nutritional supplements around two weeks before the treatment date. Those to avoid include sleeping pills, Vitamin E, Omega 3, over-the-counter products like Aspirin, and otherwise. Just to be safe, we recommend checking with us and obtaining a full list of what to avoid.
You should also stop smoking and drinking at least 48 hours before the time of the procedure. In addition, ensure your skin is clean – that means no makeup or creams!

What can you expect after BOTOX?

It’s very important to note that results of BOTOX treatments are never guaranteed. They will vary depending on the individual patient receiving them in a variety of ways. We can help to paint a clearer picture of what to expect upon our consultation with you. For peace of mind and to make a well-informed choice regarding your skincare treatments, we highly recommend getting in touch with the Dermaworks team and arranging for a visit at our office. We’re happy to walk you through the treatment process and detail the possible results!
